Alkire Road and Demorest Road Roundabout is Open
(Franklin County, Ohio – October 23, 2015) --- Dean C. Ringle, P.E., P.S., Franklin County Engineer along with members of the community celebrated the opening of the new roundabout at the intersection of Alkire Road and Demorest Road. A brief ribbon cutting ceremony took place on Friday, October 23. The roundabout opened for traffic immediately following the ceremony.
The Alkire Road and Demorest Road project included the construction of a single lane roundabout and roadway improvements to the immediate area of the intersection. “We want everyone to feel confident and secure as they travel through roundabouts,” stated Dean C. Ringle, Franklin County Engineer. “To help the public become more familiar with the various traffic patterns, rules, and general instructions of how to drive a roundabout, we have videos and safety guidelines available on our website at www.franklincountyengineer.org,” said Ringle.
The Franklin County Engineer's Office supervised this $1.6 million project by Strawser Paving, Inc. Funding was provided from the Ohio Department of Transportation Safety Funds and Ohio Public Works Commission. The project is opening ahead of schedule despite delays from the rainy July weather.
