Riggins Road from Wilcox Road to Avery Road Construction Continues
(Franklin County, Ohio - November 8, 2016) This roadway project began June 20, 2016 and will continue through June 2017, weather permitting. The roadway construction will extend Riggins Road to connect Wilcox Road to Avery Road and includes a modern roundabout at Riggins Road and Wilcox Road which opened in September of 2016. Also, a new water main, sanitary sewer improvements, a shared use path, and street lighting are part of the project.
The new roundabout intersection at Riggins Road and Wilcox Road opened September 9, 2016. Crews are working on Riggins Road from Amber Lane to Avery Road and working along Avery Road to create the Riggins Road intersection.
Riggins Road from Wilcox Road to Avery Road Construction Begins June 2016
(Franklin County, Ohio - June 22, 2016) A roadway project extending Riggins Road to connect Wilcox Road to Avery Road, will begin June 20, 2016 and be completed in June of 2017. This project includes drainage improvements, a shared use path, and street lighting.
In addition to the extension of Riggins Road, the project also includes the construction of a modern roundabout at Riggins Road and Wilcox Road. This work will take place beginning June 27, 2016 through September 2016.
Below is an estimated project schedule with work descriptions. All work is weather dependent:
- Site clearing begins during the week of June 20, 2016.
- Construction of a modern roundabout at Wilcox Road and Riggins Road will begin the week of June 27, 2016. Traffic will be detoured for this closure. Wilcox Road will reopen with a modern roundabout at the intersection of Riggins Road in September of 2016.
- Sanitary sewer installation west of Avery Road begins during the week of June 27, 2016.
The Franklin County Engineer’s Office will supervise this project. Work will be performed by George J. Igel & Co., Inc. Funding is provided by Franklin County, Ohio Public Works Commission, City of Hilliard, City of Columbus, and private developers.
