Groveport Road at Alum Creek Drive Interchange Construction

Managed by the Franklin County Engineer's Office 

Location: Groveport Road, from Frusta Drive to Big Walnut Creek; and Alum Creek Drive, north and south of Groveport Road. 

Description: Reconfiguration of Groveport Road at Alum Creek Drive by constructing a flyover bridge and bypass roadway that will include roundabouts located east and west of Alum Creek Drive; widening of Alum Creek Drive immediately north and south of Groveport Road, construction of storm sewers, curbing, gutters, driveway aprons, sidewalks, multiuse paths, median strips and guardrail; installation of new street lighting, and traffic control signals and signage; and landscaping. Status: Site clearance work is under way.

Traffic: Two-way travel on Groveport Road will be maintained during the construction this year. Motorists, however, should expect slower than normal traffic while lanes are restricted. An alternate route around the project area will be posted to help motorists avoid congestion. Alternate Route Map 

Travel on Alum Creek Drive will be maintained during most of the project. The only closure is currently scheduled to occur over a weekend, in September, when steel beams are set for the new flyover bridge. The posted detour route will use Frusta Drive and Rathmell Road. Detour Map

In 2013, Groveport Road will be closed east and west of Alum Creek Drive for the completion of the two roundabouts. During this closure, the Groveport Road Alternate route will be used as the detour route.

Cost: $9,449,378.43

Scheduled Completion: November 2013.
