Alkire Road Bridge Widening

 

Managed by the Franklin County Engineer's Office

Location: Just west of Gardner Road over Big Darby and Little Darby Creeks.

Description: Widening of the south side of the bridge to accommodate a new Metro Parks bike/pedestrian trail.

Status: The pedestrian/bike trail was opened on March 21. Final bridge adjustments and landscaping will be completed soon. 

Traffic: Travel across the bridge will be maintained during most of the project. There will be times, however, when some phases of the construction will require short closures. The posted detour route for eastbound motorists on Alkire Road will follow Georgesville-Wrightsville Road south to London-Groveport Road (S.R. 665), east to Norton Road, north to Lukens Road, north to Kropp Road, and north to Alkire Road. Westbound motorists will follow the detour route in the opposite direction.

Contractor: Complete General Construction Company

Cost: $1,260,716.91 funded by Metro Parks.

Scheduled Completion: April 2012
