Caution Urged, Drifting Snow is an Unexpected Danger

Franklin County, Ohio --- Dean C. Ringle, P.E., P.S., Franklin County Engineer, warns that drifting snow on some of the county’s outlying roadways is a hazard that requires a driver’s utmost caution.

“Unsuspecting motorists travelling at the higher speeds of our more rural roads are often surprised by snow that has blown across clear pavement,” said Dean Ringle. “Drivers should slow down while in the rural parts of the county during high winds and maneuver with caution through these dangerous drifts.”

Franklin County “Snow Fighter” personnel will be particularly vigilant of drifting snow over the next 72 hours as steady wind passes through Central Ohio.

Motorists can report drifting snow on Franklin County roads by calling the engineer’s 24-hour telephone number: (614) 462-3072
