Public
Meeting to Review Preferred Roundabout Design for Olentangy River Road
and Linworth Road
Intersection
Franklin
County, Ohio
---
Dean C. Ringle
, P.E., P.S., Franklin County Engineer, announces that a public meeting to
discuss the preferred alternative design for the Olentangy River Road
and Linworth Road
intersection improvement will be held on Monday, February 9, 2009, from 5:00 to
7:00 p.m., at the Christian Community
Church North, 5586 Olentangy River Road.
“This
is an outstanding opportunity for everyone to learn about an Ohio Department of
Transportation safety study that concluded that a single-lane modern roundabout
at Olentangy River Road and Linworth Road should be the preferred solution for
resolving traffic safety and mobility issues." said Dean Ringle. “A
conventional signalized intersection and the current use of traffic control
signs were studied, but did not provide the safety benefits of a modern
roundabout in preventing the rear end crashes that occur at the intersection.”
The
meeting will be conducted in an open-house format. There will be no formal
presentations, but personnel representing
Franklin
County
,
the Ohio Department of Transportation, and design firm Burgess & Niple,
Inc. will be present to discuss why the roundabout design is the best solution
to the existing problems at the intersection over other possible options.
Everyone
will have the opportunity to express their views about the project by submitting
a comment form that will be available during the meeting. The forms can also be
downloaded from of our web site (www.franklincountyengineer.org) or ordered by
phone (614-462-6035). Comments should be submitted and received before February
23, 2009.
The
proposed Olentangy River Road
and Linworth Road
project is currently scheduled for 2010.
