Road Bridge Rehabilitation is Under Way
Franklin
County
,
Ohio
---
Dean C. Ringle, P.E., P.S., Franklin County Engineer, announces that
rehabilitation of the
Henderson Road Bridge, which is part of the City of Columbus
project to repair and resurface
Henderson Road
from S.R. 315 to High Street, is now under way.
“The
bridge rehabilitation work involves repair of the concrete beams and drainage
system, installation of new expansion joints, widening of the south side of the
deck for a multi-use sidewalk, and construction of a new concrete driving
surface and median strip,” said Dean Ringle. “We’ll also install new
railings and refurbished street lighting.”
Eastbound
travel and pedestrian access will be maintained as one side of the bridge is
rehabilitated at a time. Motorists should expect slow moving traffic and
possible delays.
The Franklin County
Engineer’s Office has joined the City of Columbus
in supervising the bridge portion of the Henderson Road
improvement project being built by Savko & Sons, Inc.
Funding
for the $4.6 million project, including $700,000 for the bridge rehabilitation,
is being provided by the City of Columbus, Ohio Public Works Commission, and Franklin
County.
Information
about the city’s entire
Henderson Road
improvement project can be obtained from the Paving the Way web site at www.pavingtheway.org.
Completion
of the Henderson
Road
Bridge
rehabilitation work is scheduled for this November.
