First
Phase of Clime Road
Widening and Reconstruction Project to Require 40-Day Closure Starting February
2
Franklin
County
, Ohio
---
Dean C. Ringle
, P.E., P.S., Franklin County Engineer, announces that the first phase of the
widening and reconstruction of Clime Road, from Harrisburg Pike (U.S. Rt. 62) to
just east of Demorest Road in Franklin Township and the City of Columbus, will
require the roadway to be closed to through traffic on February 2, 2009 for
approximately 40 days, weather permitting.
“
Clime Road
will be closed for the replacement of the culvert over a tributary to Big Run,
located just east of
Fall Brook Road
,” said Dean Ringle. “We’ll be installing a new concrete box structure, as
well as doing storm sewer and water line work in the area.”
The
posted detour route for westbound motorists will follow Harrisburg Pike north to
Briggs Road, west
to Demorest Road, and south to Clime Road. Eastbound traffic will follow the
detour in the opposite direction.
“
Clime Road
motorists should allow extra time to reach their destinations,” said Dean
Ringle. "Travel within the detour route area could be slower than normal,
particularly during rush hour periods.”
In
addition to the culvert replacement, Clime Road improvements include
reconstruction and widening of the roadway to accommodate east and westbound
lanes, a center turn lane, and two bike lanes; construction of storm sewers,
curbing, gutters, driveway aprons, sidewalks, and a water line; and installation
of new street lighting and traffic signage.
The
Franklin County Engineer’s Office is supervising the building of this $7.9
million project by George J. Igel & Company. Funding is being provided by
the Federal Highway Administration and the Ohio Public Works Commission through
the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission.
Completion
of the
Clime Road
widening and reconstruction project is scheduled for August 2010.
