White
Road and McDowell Road Intersection to be Closed for Widening and Reconstruction
Project

Franklin County Engineer, announces that the widening and reconstruction of the
White Road and McDowell Road intersection
will require the roadways to be closed to through traffic on or about July 21
until late August 2009.
“This
project will enhance traffic safety and mobility through the intersection,”
said Dean Ringle. “Roadway improvements will include the widening and
reconstruction of
White Road
to accommodate through and left turn lanes.”
Other
components of the project involve the construction of storm sewers, curbing,
gutters, sidewalks, leisure path, and wheel chair ramps; and installation of a
new traffic signal, street lighting, school flashers, and signage.
The
posted detour route for westbound motorists on
White Road
will follow
Buckeye Parkway north
to Stringtown Road, west
to Hoover Road, and south to White Road. Eastbound motorists will follow the detour route in the opposite direction.
McDowell Road
motorists will enter the detour route at
Stringtown Road.
The
Franklin County Engineer’s Office will supervise the building of this $1.3
million project by the Decker Construction Company. Funding will be provided by
the Ohio Public Works Commission, Grove City, Jackson
Township, and
Franklin
County.
The
widening and reconstruction of the White Road and McDowell Road intersection is
scheduled to be completed by mid-September 2009.
