Plans to Improve the Olentangy River Road and Linworth Road Intersection are Put on Hold

Franklin County, Ohio --- Dean C. Ringle , P.E., P.S., Franklin County Engineer, announces that a proposed change to the intersection of Olentangy River Road and Linworth Road has been put on hold pending the completion of a new safety study.

“Since the number of accidents has declined over the past 6 months, we want to re-evaluate this intersection to make the most appropriate improvement possible,” said Dean Ringle.

He has asked the Federal Highway Administration’s Safety Review Team to perform an independent safety review of the intersection and determine what they believe would be the best options for an improvement.  The review should be complete sometime later this year, at no cost to Franklin County.

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) had previously approved the use of road safety funds for a modern roundabout design at this intersection.

“After completion of the road safety audit, we will get back together with ODOT to review the report,” said Dean Ringle.
