Clime Road to be Closed Three Weeks for Widening and Reconstruction Work

Franklin County, Ohio --- Dean C. Ringle , P.E., P.S., Franklin County Engineer announces that the Clime Road widening and reconstruction project currently under way will require the roadway to be closed to through traffic at the railroad tracks, between Harrisburg Pike (U.S. Rt. 62) and Schilling Lane, for approximately three weeks starting on or about October 19, 2009, weather permitting.

“During the closure, we will rebuild the south side of Clime Road in the vicinity of the railroad tracks,” said Dean Ringle. “East and west bound travel for local traffic only will be maintained up to the tracks.”

The detour route for motorists on Harrisburg Pike wishing to travel west on Clime Road will follow Briggs Road west to Demorest Road, and south to Clime Road. Clime Road motorists wishing to travel east, past the railroad tracks, will follow the detour route in the opposite direction.

Once the paving operations are completed, two-way travel will be permitted throughout the project, between Harrisburg Pike and just west of Talbot Place.

Reconstruction of the south side of Clime Road will be under way this November and continue into August 2010 when the project is scheduled for completion.

RailAmerica, Inc. is planning to rebuild their railroad crossing in coordination with this project. Clime Road will then be closed to through traffic and the Harrisburg Pike/Briggs Road/Demorest Road detour route will be used again. A start date has yet to be determined for this work.

The Franklin County Engineer’s Office is supervising the building of this $7.9 million project by George J. Igel & Company. Funding is being provided by the Federal Highway Administration and the Ohio Public Works Commission through the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission.

Roadway, storm sewer, and utility work throughout the project is proceeding on schedule.
