Dean C. Ringle
, P.E., P.S., Franklin County Engineer, announces that the 2009 editions of the
Franklin County Road map and Atlas will be available to the general public on
Monday, July 20, 2009 and can be obtained through the Engineer’s Offices and
at various county, municipal, township, and state facilities, as well as at the
Franklin County Fair.
“Our Survey and Geographic Information Systems
Department has gathered information from numerous public entities such as the
Franklin County Auditor’s Office,
Metro Parks, Ohio
Department of Transportation, and City of
Columbus
to create the most accurate and comprehensive road map and atlas,” said Dean
Ringle. Over 650 changes were made to our land and highway record data base
since the publication of the 2007 edition.”
The five-color 43-inch by 37-inch map shows 11,928
public streets, which are listed in the map index, and 1,200 points of interest
such as airports, hospitals, parks, municipal buildings, and high schools. The
atlas, which is the map published as a 100-page book, also contains a street
locator index containing more than 4,100 additional private roads.
The county road map is distributed free of charge,
and the atlas can be obtained for the nominal fee of $1.00.
Both the map and atlas are printed on recycled
paper.
“Mapping out your destination saves time and
helps to promote safer and more fuel efficient travel,” said Dean Ringle.
“We hope everyone will take advantage of these fine navigational tools.”
